陳長文在投書中寫道，柯文哲出席雙城論壇時對中國表達善意，願意呼應習近平的「兩岸一家親」，是兩岸和平的重要資產，且有助於舒緩台灣的反中情緒，陳在投書中並表示，在上海的柯文哲是「一個釋出善意的柯文哲、一個有建設性的柯文哲以及一個進退有據的柯文哲。」陳指出，明年總統大選有可能政黨輪替，他擔憂民進黨主導下的反中色彩會造成兩岸的不信任，呼籲柯文哲要成為「兩岸交往的潤滑劑」，但柯文哲強調，兩岸關係是將來總統要煩惱的，他只是協助或輔助的角色而已。
陳長文在投書中也提到，柯文哲應收起快言快語的個性，增加同理心，特別寫到，「柯文哲只要談到馬英九，總是會流露出一種無法自抑的鄙視與刻薄。」陳認為馬英九在台北市仍有許多好的政績與建設，值得柯文哲去學習。
